I love the Macaron pattern! It yields such a pretty and feminine dress that can be customized in a huge variety of ways. For the sew-along, I knew that I wanted to make a winterized version of Macaron, as I wore my green knit one constantly last year.
I love wearing stripey knits, even though I am not so brilliant at matching them up! I picked up both the red and striped jersey knit this summer during a huge 50% off sale at Fabricland, one of my local fabric stores.
As I only recently became a knit convert, I wanted to stick to a pattern I was comfortable with, especially since I was making modifications. I used Sewaholic's Renfrew for the sleeves and neck binding and chose to add a gathered, rather than a pleated skirt. I even used the Renfrew's hem technique to finish off the skirt.
As with every Colette pattern I have sewn, this dress went together like a dream! Having made a version before was definitely helpful as I chose not to make a muslin this time around. Sewing it with knit fabrics certainly sped up the process as I used my serger and did not need to add a zipper. This dress is very comfortable to wear and will definitely keep me warm for our upcoming chilly fall and cold winter. I love the cheery stripes paired with the cherry red knit - definitely a happy dress!
I have really enjoyed this project for Sew Colette 2.0. It has been a privilege to sew along with all of you and see your wonderful garments being posted into the sew-along Flickr group. Well done, everyone!!

Gorgeous dress! Great marriage of patterns! Mary mdeeter@hotmail.com
Way to go! I feel like a lot of us got distracted by other things over the summer, but I've really enjoyed seeing all the Macarons pop up by the end of the challenge! Yours is really unique, and looks just perfect for cold winter days!
Thank you for hosting this giveaway. I have loved looking at all the Macaron posts. Can't wait for then next pattern to sew along!
I would love to win this! :)
I'm posting this as a non-entry, since I already have a good backlog of post-wedding dress projects I'll need to do and would rather someone who can use it sooner wins! I just wanted to say that your dress is really fun, and "Macafrew" is a great word.
Great outfit. The colours are stunning.
What a great knit dress. I like the name too!

Your stripes are very cute :-) I've really enjoyed this sew along - though I only ordered my Macaron pattern on Friday! Should be coming today/tomorrow :-)

It looks amazing! And that Amy Butler pattern is gorgeous.
Lovely "macafrew" , and I love the idea of having 52 dresses !
Such a cute dress and a great idea! I never would have thought to make a Macaron with knits. This is going to be a fall/winter staple!! Thanks so much and congratulations on the gorgeous stripey Macafrew.
The stripes are gorgeous! And I would love to sew up that Amy Butler pattern :)
I bet a knit Macaron is the most comfortable dress ever! I love the two fabrics you chose, also. Cute!
This is such a cute, comfy version of the Macaron! I love how these sewalongs inspire such variety in the same pattern :) Can't wait to see what we're sewing next! :)
FYI Fabricland is currently having ANOTHER giant sale ;)
That Amy Butler patten is CYuuuuuute! :)
Love your dress AND your shoes! I 'd love to enter the giveaway, is it enough if I tell you here or should I do it somewhere else too?
Love your stripey fabric! I'm sure that dress will get a lot wear in the coming months.
Oh I would love to win that pattern, but sadly i wasn't able to participate in the macaron sew-along. I sew so slow (say that ten times fast) that i don't think i can keep up with a sew along yet! he he
Gathers! Such a good idea! I struggled with the pleats :(
I am getting inspired to make a knit macaron for Autumn. I love this one.

Your dress looks great and so comfortable! I'd love to make a knit Macaron too. Did you make the size as suggested by measurements or did you use a smaller size, because of the stretch in the fabric?
@ingemaatkt - I made a standard size 6 and it fits really well :)
Looks great!
Great giveaway too! :)
Thank you Sarah, the fit looks very good indeed!
What a great Macaron version, Sarah! I love the colours and the happy stripes compliment it in a lovely way! Also, yay longsleeves!
Wow! Good job :)
