Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments regarding my 52 Dresses project. It's so nice to see that I'm not completely bonkers or greedy beyond belief in wanting to have a closet full of dresses! I did some preliminary work and discovered that I own a grand total of 38 dresses. Of these 38 dresses, 20 are handmade and 18 are either bought, thrifted, of gifted. It's a bit of a closer ratio than I had thought, but it's still pretty good, I think. Ideally, I would prefer a 3:1 ratio; 3 handmades for every 1 bought/thrifted/gifted dress.
I went through and organized my fabric stash according to dress lengths (2-3+ yard pieces) and discovered that I have 28 available!! Given that my minimum is 2 yards to craft a dress, I have enough fabric in stock to make 14 more dresses. Wow! This means that I have enough fabric in my stash already to make my goal of 52 dresses. (I swear I did not plan this!)
I also took the time to dig through my dress pattern stash and I am very happy to say that I have a plethora of inspiration. It's a lovely mix of vintage and new patterns, including Colette Patterns dresses, and a mix of Simplicity and Butterick patterns, my favourites of the Big 4.
I'm very happy to see that this project will mesh easily with my Franken Pattern Pledge. I also know that I'll be making several versions of one pattern - I love to play with versions of the same pattern!
Above are the fabrics for my first dress in the sewing queue. I will either make a franken patterned version of Simplicity 3673's bodice with a self-drafted contrast midriff band and full knee-length skirt or I may sew Hazel again. I've had the spirograph/pinwheel fabric in my stash for over two years and the poor thing is just begging to be a fabulous dress. Wish me luck!

I'm impresessed you already have so many dresses! I think this is a great idea, dresses are so easy to wear. I'm making nothing but dresses at the moment and enjoying myself very much!
This is such a fun goal! Why not embrace what you love? :) I would need a few years to get to 52 lol but it sounds like you're well equipped to do it, no problem! Love that orange fabric! :D
Ooooh I am so excited to watch your progress!
I might just join you as I need/would like more dresses...my daughter has at the last count 61 SUMMER dresses a combination of bought second hand, made by me and bought new over several years. This does not include skirts or winter dresses...!!
Good luck with your venture, I think 52 would be too many for me, I think at the moment I have about 10! Still as summer will be here soon I have plans to make some more, so I should be up to 20 by the end of summer.
38 dresses already, wow! I have 2 :D I didn't think I was a dress person but I've discovered they're very comfortable to wear! I'm not following you in your journey to reach 52, but will greatly enjoy seing your progress!
